Dogs of BCR

"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog." - Gene Hill

 Brooklynn

"Brooke"

Brooke came to Julie's family in 2002 from the Calgary SPCA. Brooke was in terrible shape as her previous owners beat her severely then tossed her out on the street to fend for herself as a puppy. She arrived at the SPCA around 6 months old and remained in foster care for most of her stay until the Allen family saw those adorable floppy ears (at the age of 11 months) and decided she was the one. Since then Brooklyn has been a huge part of all of our lives. Two years ago Julie convinced the rest of her family to let her take Brooke to live with her on the farm (her favorite place on earth)

Brooklyn's hobbies consist of hunting gophers, mice, skunks and porcupines...(she really needs to cut it out with the porcupines!!) She also enjoys her morning romps, then sunbathing on the barn floor for the afternoon.

You will often find Brooke curled up on her bed by the arena.

Ruger

"Ruger"

Ruger came into the family in 2008. He is the most lovable guy around. Incredibly easy going, and snuggly, confused in the opposite way of Dallas! "Roo-roo" is sure he is a lap dog. He is the first to try to climb oh so very slowly onto your lap if you are sitting or jump up casually to give you a hug  as you enter the barn (which he doesnt understand is impolite). Ruger loves car rides, playing in the snow, hunting gophers, mice, skunks and porcupines with his sisters. He also enjoys chasing deer (bad roo!), cattle and eating bones. His favorite nights are when Emma and her family come out because they bring him dog cookies!

Kade
"Kade"

In Nov 2009 Julie fell in love with a puppy she saw in an ad on the internet. Her and Nic had talked a lot about getting two puppies to train and use as stock dogs. And Julie knew in her heart this was the one for her. Kade came home a couple days before christmas and was the best present ever! He is a bit timid with new people but comes around quickly. He is incredibly smart, always paying attention to where Julie is, he tries his hardest to please in everything he does. He is growing up so fast. Kade loves to run, play with his bro, chew on bones...and gloves!... But most of all loves to snuggle.

  Dman

 "Dallas"
Dallas came from a long time friend, Caryl Doty of Foxtrail Farms. Caryl had bred her original Chihuahuas' for the first time in 2006 and Julie was lucky enough to get pick of the litter.

Dallas is a special guy who is always up for a snuggle. You will often find him at a horse show supporting our riders, out shopping with Julie, curled up on his bed by the fire place, or hanging off of Rugers lip in the barn! Dallas has always had a bit of an attitude, he thinks it is his job to keep all large dogs in line (and horses too for that matter!)  He can be very bossy for his size :) Though I am quite sure he has no idea that he is a mere 4 lbs soaking wet  (please dont tell him as I think it would break his heart!)  Dally-man is incredibly talented and knows many tricks and obedience commands...not your typical purse dog!  His favorite things are car rides, dog cookies, dog food, cat food if he can find it!, bones....and well all food or anything that smells close to food!

swift-a-roanie

"Swift"

Nic and Julie found Swift at the Cochrane Humane Society in Jan 2008 as a 10 week old pup. She is an incredibly smart dog and attached to Nic at the hip. Being a very nervous dog, it takes time for her to warm up to new people, but when she knows you she will lean into you for a nice scratch or try to hold your hand in her mouth gently as she walks beside you. She loves car rides, runs on the ranch or at the river, and hunting with Brooklyn and Ruger. You will often find her chomping on a bone she found or on frosty days eating horse poop-sicles (a dog favorite!).

Swift will begin her stock dog training  summer 2010.

Cinch

"Cinch"

Nic got Cinch right before christmas in 2009. He is getting bigger everyday. Cinch comes from champion stock dog lines and is going to be incredible to work. He is so smart, incredibly brave, and such a snuggler. His eyes are both part green and part blue....we dont know if they will change but they are pretty amazing. He loves car rides (riding shotgun), playing with his bro, chewing on bones and exploring.  He is tough as nails and eager to learn.

Nic and Julie are looking forward to starting their pups stock dog training in the fall of 2010.
